Before submitting, please make sure that your work abides by the school rules found in the CHS Student Handbook. Generally, avoid overly profane or explicit content (if you wouldn’t show it in class, we can’t put it in the magazine).
No Plagiarism- references, quotations, etc. are fine, but make sure you are crediting the original creator. If you use copyrighted material, make sure it’s adequately transformative.
We accept short stories, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, and all forms of poetry.
Please submit as a Google Doc or Word Doc.
While we do accept multiple works in one submission, the total word count of ALL WORKS cannot exceed 3,000 words (if you have a longer work, feel free to submit a self-contained excerpt).
If you are submitting multiple works at once, please put them all on the same document and indicate where one work ends and another begins.
We are not able to publish .mp4 or .mov files. Please submit as a Youtube, Dailymotion, or Vimeo link.
We accept films under ten minutes. If your work is over ten minutes, submit a self contained scene or trailer instead.
We accept visual art in all mediums, and all kinds of photography.
Please submit your work in the highest resolution photo you are able to, so long as it is in .png or .jpeg format.
Please indicate the medium used in the file name (e.g. “Starry Night - Oil on Canvas”)
You can submit up to five pieces of visual art at once, but bear in mind we probably will not publish all five.
Please submit as a Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, Pandora, Vimeo, Dailymotion, or Youtube link.
We will only publish work under five minutes. If your work is over five minutes, submit a shorter sample.
Confused? Not sure if your work fits a category or meets the guidelines? That’s alright--we want to work with you so your work can be featured too. Email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we can figure out where your work fits!
