Creator - Hex Hogan Blurring, the hazy lights hark down I can nearly see myself in the halo The image slightly obscured by sleek asphalt What shines back isn’t me Or is it? No matter how hard I try my eyes refuse to focus So instead I listen to the pounding Droning and drowning On the roof, and in my head Thoughts trickle between my ears like rain, abandoning doubt with each drop Who was she? Her stare was piercing- and dull I think I might’ve loved her once Or did I? Author's Note:
So, I wrote this poem initially for poetry club in February of my junior year. If you’ve ever been, you know at the end of each meeting we decide on a theme for next month- and of course one of February’s themes was love. I almost gave in and wrote a sappy love poem about my current relationship. But instead, a thought came to me while I sat in the passenger seat in the pouring rain. I could almost see my self in the reflection of the highway, but not completely. I knew what I needed to write about. Self love.
